Transmission Haze is a measurement of a materials light scattering characteristic. The haze effect can be due to the suspension of particles or contaminants within a fine textured surface and contaminants or sample. In applications such as packaging, hazy films can affect a consumers first impression and considerably reduce their quality perception, especially if the packed product looks cloudy or indistinct. For materials with haze, the visibility of the plastic appears more apparent and the contrast of viewed objects decrease.
Transmission is the measurement of the total amount of light that passes through a chosen material that is influenced by reflective properties and absorption. In the industry, the transmission measurement is related to the opacity of material and/or the hiding power of the applied coatings.
