Drying Time Recorder 1Hr Spring Drive

The Drying Time Recorder safely measures oven curing times by utilizing a spring wound motor capable of withstanding temperatures up to 500°F. The motor is encased in a metal housing supported by three legs. Drying times in the field and laboratory can be made without worry of electrical sparking hazards around low flash point materials. No jumbled electrical cords; no overheating of electrical motors, etc.

Features

An armature extends vertically from the motor shaft and is attached to a horizontal counter balanced arm. At one end of the arm is a teflon ball stylus that extends downward to the surface. At the opposite end of the arm is a counter-weight that can be adjusted to balance the arm. A 12 gram weight is supplied to be mounted on top of the ball stylus shaft. The weight load on the ball can be adjusted by the operator so that results will closely coincide with the finger touch method of determining drying time. A clear plastic template is furnished. The template is placed on the panel after test and overlaid on the circle scribed by the ball into the coating. The template indicates the hours of operation of the recorder at any given point. Procedure

  1. Attach Arm and Ball assembly to the winding post using the supplied Allen wrench

  2. Wind the clock mechanism, DO NOT OVERWIND THE MAINSPRING SEE BELOW FOR WINDING INSTRUCTIONS

  3. Place freshly coated panel in oven

  4. Center recorder over it

  5. Lower stylus onto wet panel and allow rotation to begin

How to Rewind the 618 1-Hour Clock Mechanism - Rewind the clock mechanism using the Arm and Ball assembly when its attached to the winding post. Fully wind the clock spring with approximately 10 turns (180 degree rotation each turn) for the 1-hour clock. DO NOT OVERWIND THE MAINSPRING.

How to Rewind the 618 24-Hour Clock Mechanism - Rewind the clock mechanism using the Arm and Ball assembly when its attached to the winding post. Fully wind the clock spring with approximately 3 to 5 turns (180 degree rotation each turn) for the 24-hour clock. DO NOT OVERWIND THE MAINSPRING.
