The byko-visc CP Cone and Plate viscometer allows for the precise determination of the absolute viscosity of materials using minimal sample sizes. With built-in temperature control and constant shear rates throughout the whole sample it can measure and predict the performance of your samples closer to the conditions in your manufacturing or application process (E.g. Spreading of paint on a wall or flowing of a polymer melt inside a pipe).  The desired viscosity ranges can be customized according to different use cases by a selection of ten (separately available) cones. The byko-visc CP Cone and Plate viscometer offers a practical solution for any QC or R&D lab requiring quick, easy and reliable testing of the behaviour of a liquid under different conditions.

  • Determine the absolute viscosity of an analyte
  • Small (<2 mL) sample sizes save both material and time required to clean instrument
  • Precise shear rates from a robust direct drive motor design make it ideal for non-Newtonian samples
  • Built in temperature control - No additional thermal systems needed
  • Excellent accuracy and repeatability
  • Easy user calibration
  • Brilliant 5" color touch display
  • Test modes: Time to torque, Time to stop, QC limits
  • Automatic electronic cone lift
  • Bayonet coupling for easy cone attachment
  • Dymo label writer output for sample labeling
  • Cones made of high-quality 316 stainless steel
  • CE/UL/CSA Approved

Comprehensive Rheometry Guide

Have you ever wondered why it is, that sunscreen stays inside the bottle when turned upside down, but spreads smoothly when applied on skin? It all has to do with the rheological behavior of a specific material. In this paper we will explore the basics of rheology, how different instruments can measure different aspects of a fluid's behavior and examine the differences between relative and absolute measurement systems by looking at various practical examples.

Guide to Viscosity Measurement

Viscosity is an important property of liquids to determine how they flow, spread, or level under certain conditions. It can be defined as a liquid's internal resistance to flow. Being able to measure the viscosity will allow to predict the behavior in a process or an application. When applying a paint by roll application the paint viscosity will strongly influence the amount of paint applied per surface area, thereby determining both yield and hiding power. It is crucial for liquid products to undergo a viscosity measurement in incoming and outgoing QC.
