Accessories byko-drive

 The DTR option (2141) is an accessory for the byko-drive (2139, 2140) designed to evaluate the drying behavior of applied coatings. When attached, it performs a continuous mechanical trace across the wet film, allowing for the characterization of distinct drying and curing stages.

Drying time is defined as the progression from a liquid to a fully cured polymer film, including intermediate stages such as set-to-touch, tack-free, and through-dry. The resulting trace provides a permanent record that can be analyzed to determine these transition points with high repeatability. This process is defined in ASTM D5895, which outlines the test method for evaluating the drying and curing stages of coatings using these types of instruments "drying time recorders".
