All Brookfield Viscometers are supplied with spindles suitable for most applications within the viscosity
range of the instrument. There are, however, situations where specialized spindle geometries are necessary to achieve optimum results.
Disc Spindles Provided as standard equipment with LV (spindles #2 and #3) and RV/HA/HB models (spindles #1 through #6), these are versatile general-purpose spindles for use in containers of 600ml capacity or larger. Disc spindles will produce accurate, reproducible apparent viscosity determinations in a wide variety of liquids.
Cylindrical Spindles These spindles (LV #1 and #4, RV/HA/HB #7) provide a scientifically defined spindle geometry for calculating shear stress and shear rate values as well as viscosity. Cylindrical spindles are particularly valuable when measuring non-Newtonian fluids, and are applicable to any Brookfield Viscometer model with the use of the appropriate range table. Cylindrical equivalents of the LV #2 and #3 disc spindles are available for enhanced versatility.
T-Bar Spindles Generally used in conjunction with the Helipath Stand accessory (with which they are supplied as standard equipment), T-bar spindles make possible the measurement of non-flowing materials such as pastes, gels, and creams.
Coaxial Cylinders Coaxial-cylinder geometry is available in several accessories for the Brookfield Viscometer: the Small Sample Adapter, the UL Adapter and the Thermosel System. In addition to providing scientifically defined rheological data (including shear stress and shear rate values), each of these accessories has unique advantages for specific situations.
Cone/Plate Geometry For accurate determination of absolute viscosity with very small samples, the Wells-Brookfield Cone/Plate Viscometer (in Digital and dial-reading versions) offers sophisticated instrumentation technology.
Spindle Extensions Type D & Type S These extensions are used to increase the distance between viscometer and spindle/test sample. The Type D extension comprises wire links and coupling nuts which attach to any spindle. Type S comprises wire links pre-assembled to your specified spindle at the normal immersion point.
All Brookfield Viscometer spindles are constructed of 304 stainless steel. Optional choices include 316 stainless steel or Kynar coating for increased durability and corrosion resistance. |
