The Model 580 Thermometer has been designed for measuring radiation temperatures from various heat sources. These sources include calrods, wire and ribbon resistance heating elements, gas operated heat transfer panels and incandescent lamps. It is particularly adapted for use in traveling belt type ovens. The 580 positions an ancillary hand at the highest temperature for a given cycle. A magnetic clutch holds the maximum hand securely so that the temperature can be read at the end of the belt travel.
In addition to being a specific type of instrument for measuring IR, the Model 580 may also be used as a surface measuring thermometer.* The TIME CONSTANT is defined as the time required to reach 63% of an instantaneous temperature change. For practical purposes a thermometer should be allowed to “rest” for four times the time constant. |
