Each LeadCheck Swab is a self-contained test unit which provides a quick, easy-to-use, accurate, reliable and sensitive test for lead on any surface. The patented design assures that the chemicals packaged in the glass ampoules remain fresh until the swab is activated. New OSHA regulations require workers to wear respirators in the workplace if work activity generates more than 50ug/m3 over an eight hour period.

LeadCheck Swabs may be used in the field to monitor the collection of lead dust on personal air monitor filters. When ready to use, crush the two glass vials, shake to mix and squeeze the chemicals on to the tip of the swab. Then rub the surface to be tested. If the tip comes in contact with lead a bright and distinctive pink color will appear either on the swab or the surface, indicating that lead is present.

MercuryCheck Swabs are self-contained test units which provide a rapid, easy to use, sensitive and specific test for mercury. Each MercuryCheck Swab has a cotton tip on one end and contains one crushable vial. The cotton tip is impregnated with a Mercury reactive dye. To activate the Swab, SQUEEZE the barrel to CRUSH the vial and SQUEEZE again to wet the cotton tip. When the wet tip is brought in contact with mercury ions (Hg+2 ), a purple complex forms on the tip of the swab. If no color change is observed on the cotton tip, use the confirmation card containing a small quantity of mercury salt included with the product in order to insure that the test is performed properly.

In defined laboratory tests, MercuryCheck Swabs reproducibly detect down to 1.5 micrograms of mercury ions (Hg+2 ). Metallic mercury is also easily detected following a simple pre-treatment step.
