| Procedure |
- Carefully cover test panel with paper between mandrel and draw
bar and clamp the probe.
- Fold the test panel around the cone by using the manually
operated arm that is pivoted at the ends of the axis of the cone.
- Bend uniformly at 180° within 15 seconds.
- Remove panel and examine the coating for cracks.
- Mark the point at which the cracking stops and measure the
distance from the farthest end of the crack to the small end of the mandrel.
- Appropriate calibration curves also permit determination
of the elongation values of the paint film.

Used to test the resistance of a coating of paint, varnish or related product to cracking or detachment from a metal panel , after the panel has been bent around a cylindrical mandrel. It can be used as a simple Pass/Fail test at a known diameter, or as a Paint of Failure test, by using successively smaller mandrels until cracking is observed.
Accepts up to 50mm wide and 1mm thick.
The following stainless steel mandrels are supplied: 2,3,4,5,6,8,10,12,16,20,25,32mm dia. Other sizes of mandrels can be made to order.
