A portable, easy to use dial gauge to measure coating thicknesses on all substrates. The dial gauge is mounted on a base foot and is fitted with a precision ground rounded tip. A small portion of the coating is removed and the gauge foot is pressed onto the test surface. The rounded tip projects through the hole to the substrate to indicate coating thickness on the dial. One rotation of the dial point is 200 microns (0.010"). Available in metric or imperial scale. Scale division - 2 μm (0.0001").
Operating Instructions
Release the outer knurled ring by rotating the clamping screw counter-clockwise.
Set the gauge to zero by placing it on to the glass sample provided. Then adjust the outer knurled ring to read zero against the pointer.
Remove a portion of the coating so that the spring-loaded tip can project down to the substrate.
Place the gauge on to the surface to be measured. The coating thickness is then indicated on the dial in microns or mils (thous), according to the scale.
