Powder Probes FN1.6P & F1.6P

Takes the trial and error out of powder coating applications.

The FN1.6P & F1.6P Powder Probes are for measuring powder before baking which is essential for material management for powder coaters. With the ability to determine the amount of powder applied before baking with the powder probes followed by switching to a standard probe after curing, the dry film thickness can be correlated to the exact amount of powder required to achieve the required coating thickness.

For the many Powder Coaters already utilizing the Minitest 1100, 2100, 3100 and 4100. Series coating thickness testing gauges it is as simple as acquiring this probe and connecting it to the gauge. No special programming of the gauge is required, just plug and go. The diagram to the right enables the cured coating thickness to be determined based on measurement of powder.

How It Works

Three pins are integrated into the probe head which penetrate the powder coating down to the substrate. These impression marks virtually disappear during the curing process. During the measuring process, the probe is carefully placed onto the powder coating and pressed down to the stop. The probe tip touches slightly onto a pressure reducing foil which is bent with a slight yet defined pressure into the powder coating. The factory setting of the pressure is approximately 0.1N. The probe pressure is unaffected by the manual pressure applied. One measurement per location is recommended. Before taking the next measurement, the foil needs to be cleaned free of powder by using a soft brush.
