Trade-In Policy

We will accept your old magnetic gage, regardless of its condition, as a 20% trade-in toward the purchase of a new PosiTest® gage.

Easy-To-Use

  • Positive visual and audible indicators to designate when thickness reading is established.
  • “V” grooves in probe housing and instrument base to allow correct positioning on cylindrical objects
  • Precisely balanced independent of gravity–can be used in any position.
  • GO / NO - GO button can be preset for rapid measurement.
  • Furnished with wrist strap, neck strap & instructions in leather case with belt loops.

Durability

  • Positive positioning, no pivoting tendencies during measuring.
  • Functions on a cobalt rare earth permanent magnet (never needs a battery).
  • Housing not affected by mechanical shock, water, acid or solvents.
  • Explosion-proof, Refinery safe.
  • One Year Warranty

Accuracy

  • Permanently calibrated.
  • Certificate of Calibration showing trace ability to NIST included.
  • Highly wear resistant Tungsten Car- bide Probe Tip for longer life and continuous accuracy.
  • Refined magnet and balance arm assemblies, improved resolution and accuracy.

Positest Operating Instructions

1. Purpose

A. For the non-destructive measurement of non-magnetic coating on steel.

2. Procedure

A. Place gage on surface to be measured. With your index finger rotate the scale wheel forward (counterclockwise) until probe makes contact with the surface, then slowly and steadily turn scale wheel backwards (clockwise) until a click is heard and the yellow indicator appears. At this point read coating thickness on the scale.

Note: Surface to be measured must be free from dirt, oil or grease.

B. When measuring on rod or cylindrical materials, align the “V” groove in the probe housing and instrument base with the rod or cylinder.

3. Calibration

A. All PosiTest gages are factory calibrated to NIST Standards.

B. When measuring on rough surface or odd shaped substrates, the PosiTest may require re calibration by means of the following procedure:

1. Remove cover in center of glass.

2. Holding the scale wheel securely, insert ball point of pen or similar object into one of the four holes exposed in the center of the dial. Rotate right or left to effect proper calibration.

3. Replace cover securely in center of glass.

C. Never re calibrate PosiTest on shim stock. Only on thickness standards having an applied coating.

4. Care

A. Never expose the PosiTest to any magnetic fields.

B. Periodically check the probe tip for foreign matter, removing same with a clean, dry brush or soft cloth.

C. When not in use always return the gage to its carrying case.
