| The Micro-Deval abrasion test is becoming the industry standard for measuring abrasion loss of aggregates used in the construction and transportation departments. Aggregates, along with media water are added to jar(s) and placed on a machine which turns the jar(s) at 100 RPM for a two hour cycle. The aggregates are then removed from the jar(s) and run through a series of sieves to determine the amount of loss (or wear). This test helps to determine the quality of aggregates used in the production of our roads, etc. The “average” test would require one machine, 2 jars and approximately 11 pounds of media. The amount of media will vary dependent on the particular test being performed. |
