With the New Powdatest any electrostatic
sprayer can now quickly measure the electrostatic voltage at the spray
gun tip. This corona point is where the electrostatic voltage must be
maintained at the correct voltage. This voltage can be up to 100,000 volts
and can be either positive or negative charged. Using the Powdatest
will allow this actual gun voltage
to be quickly and accurately measured. The Powdatest
is a simple, easy to use, very accurate hand held instrument which has
a safe measuring probe which can be easily placed on the gun tip. Instant
digital display with resolution to 0.1kV of the actual gun voltage is
then obtained. The Powdatest can be used
to check and allow calibration of existing console displays, and also
can be used to trace faults such as poor high voltage cable connections,
cable breakages, dirt, grease etc., on the gun body which could affect
the actual gun voltage but not be shown on the console displays. Ideal
for quickly testing guns after reassembly and multiple gun systems. |
| Voltage Measurement |
| 1. | Connect the earth cable to the threaded BNC connector on the Powdatest. |
| 2. | Connect the Powdatest probe via the connecting cable to the other connector on the Powdatest. |
| 3. | Ensure that the earth lead is securely connected to a Good Earth connection. |
| 4. | Switch the Powdatest on by depressing the ON keypad. The display will register 00.0kV. |
| 5. | Holding the probe handle only, place the tip of the probe onto the high voltage to be measured. |
| The Powdatest will display the voltage being measured together with its polarity, i.e. if the display registers -46.6 the voltage has a negative charge polarity and is 46.6 kilo volt. If the display registers 46.6 then the charge polarity is positive and is 46.6 kilo volt. (Allow approximately five seconds for display to settle, this delay has been incorporated to give stable measurements even in electrically noisy environments). |
| Information |
| 1. | To obtain the electrostatic gun potential depress the Gun on switch without powder. |
| 2. | Always keep the probe glass surface clean as dirt or other contaminates could affect the measurement accuracy. To clean the glass: use a small amount of methylated spirit on a clean duster. Do not use any other type of cleaning agent. Place the probe in its case immediately after use. |
| 3. | To switch the Powdatest off depress the OFF keypad. |
| Battery Replacement |
| When the battery requires replacing there will be a LO BATT symbol on the display. To replace, remove battery cover by depressing and sliding cover off. Replace with PP3 type battery ensuring correct polarity. An alkaline leak proof battery is preferable. |

This Current Adaptor will connect directly to the Powdatest and allow DC Currents to be measured in the range of 0.1 to 199.9 micro amp. The Current Adaptor is supplied complete with a BNC to Croc Clip lead to allow series current measurement. | |

| Connect the Current Adaptor BNC plug to the Powdatest top right hand BNC socket. | ||
| Connect the current cable BNC plug to the BNC socket on the Current Adaptor. | ||
| Connect the Black Croc Clip to a good earth connection. | ||
| Connect the Red Croc Clip to the Object. (Note: Ensure that the Object is not connected to the Earth directly only via the Powdatest in series). | ||
| Switch the Powdatest on. | ||
| Commence spraying to the Object. | ||
| The Powdatest will now measure the current between the Object and Earth. Note: The Powdatest display will be scaled with this Current Adaptor from 0.1 micro amp. to 199.9 micro amp. Ignore the displayed kV annunciators. | ||
