LaserPaint® Targeting Tool

The LaserPaint is a spray gun attachment used to improve spray application performance and increase transfer efficiency while decreasing costs, materials and air emissions.

This targeting tool enhances spray technique by using two laser beams that converge to form a single dot when spraying at the optimal gun-to-part distance. The single dot also gives feedback on the proper amount of overlap being produced and can help when spraying difficult parts. It is available for automotive, military, industrial and technical training customers.

LaserPaint® FAQ

  1. How does the LaserPaint work?
Once turned on, the LaserPaint projects two laser beams onto the part. The user sets the proper distance by first determining the proper gun to part distance, then turning the small knob until the two laser beams converge and form a single dot on the part. The dot separates into two if the gun is moved too close or too far, signaling the technicians to make a correction.
  2. Why is distance important when spraying?
Maintaining the correct distance can aid in applying a uniform thickness while achieving maximum efficiency.
  3. What other features does the LaserPaint have?
The laser can be used to maintain the correct 50% overlap, spray difficult parts and areas and provide a consistent finish from part to part. The U.S. EPA tested the LaserPaint technology and determined that it can increase transfer efficiency up to 38.8% and lower VOC emissions.
  4. Will it fit my spray gun?
With the two attachments supplied, most guns can be accommodated. In a few instances customization may be required.
  5. How is distance controlled?
A small knob on the right side of the LaserPaint is used to adjust laser dot at the appropriate distance from gun to part.
  6. How strong is the laser?
The laser used in the LaserPaint is a class 3A laser.
  7. How safe is the laser?
The class 3A laser is industrial strength but does not require any training before use. As long as the user operates the LaserPaint as recommended, no problems should occur. Be sure to not look directly at the laser source, point lasers at other people or point the lasers at a highly reflective surface.
  8. How is the LaserPaint protected from overspray?
The LaserPaint comes with a protective shield that slides onto the front of the unit.
  9. What kind of battery does the LaserPaint use and where can I get a replacement?
The LaserPaint uses a 3.6V battery. The package includes one spare battery and replacements can be purchased.
  10. How long does the battery last?
The battery life has a tested average of 75 continuous use hours.
  11. How do I clean the LaserPaint?
Once you are finished spraying, just wipe down the LaserPaint with a damp cloth or towel. Do not submerge the LaserPaint in solvent or liquid as this will ruin the unit.
  12. Is there a warranty?
The LaserPaint Complete Package includes a one-year warranty. The only stipulation that would
void the warranty is submerging the unit in solvent.

LaserPaint in use Benefits
  • Spray at the correct distance for maximum efficiency
  • Use the single dot for targeting on difficult to spray parts
  • Accurate 50% overlap for a uniform coating
  • Affordable technology with a quick payback
Features
  • Increase transfer efficiency up to 38.8%
  • Reduce VOC emissions
  • Decrease material consumption
How It Works
The LaserPaint comes with two universal brackets for attachment to any manual spray gun. The LaserPaint can be placed to the left or right of the nozzle. The two laser beams are set to the correct distance with the adjustment knob so the two beams converge into a single dot. Then just turn on the LaserPaint and you are ready to go.
