accurate repeatable results. The 0.5” thick plate glass pad is hard and ultrasmooth with rubber feet to prevent slipping.
A heavy duty clip holds the substrate in place while the coating is applied evenly with any coating rod.

Gardco Drawdown Machine
The Drawdown Machine is a precision instrument designed to make consistent, repeatable drawdown samples. Human differences in rod pressure and direction of stroke that cause inconsistent samples are eliminated.
The machine controls the load on the drawdown rod with a simple weighted assembly, and holds rod securely during the drawdown stroke.

Makes samples up to 12" wide by 13" long.
Coating Thickness Chart located on machine for easy reference.
Flat precision polished plate glass drawdown surface. Flatness no variance greater than 1 mil over a 12" span.
Heavy-duty ball bearing sliders.
Adjustable feet for leveling.
Uses standard 1/2" Laboratory Rods available from Gardco.
To select the correct rod for a particular drawdown sample simply refer to the Coating Thickness Chart located under the plate glass drawdown surface.
Easy To Operate
Select the ideal rod size from the Chart that follows and snap rod into weight arms.
Level machine with level provided.
Mount your substrate sample or chart on glass surface and lower weight arm assembly.
Spread your coating liquid near the rod and pull handle with a smooth, even stroke.

When ordering applicators insert AP in front of the diameter of the rod and the wire size. Example: AP-1/2 x 15. Other types of wire-wound drawdown rods are described in our General Catalog.
