For years we have looked for accurate flexo ink color reproduction in the lab. The hand held proofer was our method of applying color to the sheet and its operation was totally dependent upon the skill of the technician making the proof. The ink technician must have years of experience to master the handproofer and even then variation of color from proof to proof, if not perceivable to the eye, is easily detected by the color computer. With the advent of color matching and QC computers, the necessity for accurate proofing became critical. The QC computer is of no use in an ink lab if the proofing method does not duplicate the end use of the product. The Pamarco Precision Proofer Unit is a flexo ink proofer that can be correlated to a flexo press. It addresses the variables of press speed, impression, anilox rollers and substrate in a controlled and reproducible manner. The Precision Proofer Unit utilizes handproofers currently used in the industry and allows an unskilled operator to make an accurate color reproduction that can be used for computer input, customer submission, quality control and press side color prediction. The Precision Proofer is designed to replace the human arm in the proofing process. It is an air driven proofer that has a repeatable and adjustable proofing cycle. It can be correlated to an unlimited number of presses and/or printing units. The print speed and impression can be recorded and recreated with the turn of a dial.
